Elligard- Hormone Therapy

I am 7 days post RT, but had an Elligard injection 5 say’s ago. Have been taking Elligard since December. Since start I have horrible painful itching. Narrowed it down to reaction to Elligard. Am thinking of stopping Elligard. I haven’t had the last visit to oncologist or urologist to discuss this yet. Anyone else with this thought?
Some history:
85 very active, pacemaker. Play weekly golf, bike (Harley), cut my own wood.
Prostate cancer contained to the prostate. Fatigue hopefully will somewhat wane in a couple of days, along with diarrhea and urine frequency.
Thinking of getting off Elligard and f/u closely with PSA and Gleason results. If either go up then discuss restarting Elligard.

Are you currently being seen by a Medical Oncologist specializing in Prostate Cancer (PCa)? If not, I suggest that you engage one. They are the experts on hormone therapy (ADT), and there are a number of available ADT options. If you are having issues with this one ADT option, they can steer you to other available options.

Hi,
Itching is one of the noted Eligard side effects. Like Joesephg said maybe another medication is available. As to your last statement your PSA could rise over a period of time until it stabilizes at some value. The main thing is to closely monitor your PSA to develop a trend up or down(hopefully flat line). Eligard will surpress your PSA as long as you take it. Did you take ADT drugs before your RT? At 85 yrs. old if it was me I would be more concerned about quality of life.
