Treatment breaks and STD/LTD
hey there!
I am a caregiver for my boyfriend who was diagnosed with stage 3 rectal. He is hopefully finishing chemo tomorrow and then will start radiation+oral chemo and finishing up with surgery. You all know how that works.
Prior to surgery we are told he will be on a break to give his body time to recover and heal from radiation. Totally makes sense. He is now on short term disability (we live in the USA) . Has anyone had challenges with disability insurance covering the treatment break periods? Or did you return to work during the break and what did it do for your disability insurance when you went back out for surgery? His job is all or nothing- no light duty or desks.
Happy to hear some thoughts on how to navigate this part and to ease his mind if i am able. Thank you for sharing your expertise or thoughts
