Battling Chronic Myeloid Leukemia

I had a Brother that was a year older than I am, who passed away from Stage IV Liver Cancer in November, 2022, and I'm a 72 year old female, living with Chronic Myeloid Leukemia.. I was Diagnosed with Leukemia on: April 27th, 2023, which was 5 month's after I lost my Brother... I stayed in the Hospital for about a week, because I had gotten so sick, and didn't know why I was having a lot of Chest Pain, Coughing, Night Sweat's, Headaches, and Shortness Of Breath, until I had a CBC done, and I was told that I had Blood Cancer.. I was on the Drug called: Gleevec, and it worked for about 19 month's, and it stopped working, and my Oncologist switched me to a new Drug called: Scemblix, 40mg twice Daily, and it has worked very well for me, now, my BCR-ABL1 is now at 0.050, which needs to be at, 0%, which should take me into: Molecular Remission.. I'm hoping to be at: 0%, by the time I see my Oncologist on: May 19th… My number has dropped significantly since May 1st, 2023.. I started out at: 84.50, and now at: 0.050.. My White Cell Count in the beginning of my Diagnosis, was at: 250 Thousand Plus, now at: 6 Thousand... The normal range is between: 4 Thousand, and 11 Thousand.. Would like to know if anyone has tried the Drug, Scemblix, and if so, how has it affected you??? I get thru this horrible disease one day at a time, and I 🙏 a lot... Would like to know, anyone else affected by: CML, how are you handling it??? If there is anything that I could help answer any question's about what I've learned about this Disease, feel free to reach out to me, and I would love to hear anything about what you have learned about this Blood Cancer…

Hi there! I had the same symptoms as you but was diagnosed with AML in August 2023 at age 65, just 5 months after retiring. I am receiving chemo and venetoclax every 3 months to hopefully keep it in remission. I do a lot of praying as well and am so thankful for every day I get to enjoy my daughters and grandchildren. This is very difficult though and I sometimes feel so alone. Talking to others who understand does help. Blessings to you and all of us!

Hi Nana, I am so sorry to hear about your AML, I will be Praying for you and your Family, that you will be here a lot longer to enjoy your Daughter, and Grandchildren... I also Pray that your Treatment that you are getting, will continue to work for you.. I just lost my baby Sister on June 29th, 2025 from a Catastrophic Stroke about a year ago, that she never recovered from... We just had her Funeral Services on the 2nd of this month... She was only 69 years old.. This is the 2nd Sibling that I've lost within less than 3 years... This is a very hard hit for me, but I will continue to stay Prayed Up, because I know that my GOD doesn't make any mistakes... This is the only way I get thru each day, is: 🙏🙏 I am feeling pretty well each day with taking my Chemo Medication twice daily... We will beat this, we won't let it beat us.. Right??? Just Pray , and stay strong... I have 4 Grandson's, and I love them very much, and I will continue to fight to live, and enjoy them... I want you to continue to fight, and enjoy your family... GOD BLESS, AND TAKE CARE...

Thank you for your prayers and sharing your faith. It is so inspiring to hear your testimony after so much loss in your life.

Grandchildren are the best aren’t they? They always lift my spirits and give me so much joy. I pray both our treatments continue to work and we can watch these precious ones grow up.

    Blessings and best wishes!
