RCHOP side affects with ileostomy
This week, I completed my 1st RCHOP treatment of 6. I have an ileostomy and catheter to divert stool and urine. Going into treatment, I had good ostomy output (volume & consistency). Since treatment, ostomy output is high@ >2000ml and loose. All my eating tricks don’t seem to work. I take 4x 2mg loperamide. Has anyone else had similar experience? If yes, did it always happen with each treatment? I’m looking to increase loperamide but am hesitant to overdo it.

Hello mas, and sorry for your concern. CHOP often causes constipation in people with a "complete" digestive system, but your situation is quite different. I suggest you report the symptoms you are experiencing both to your hematology team as well as your gastroenterologist without waiting any further. They would be the most capable of giving you proper advice and/or treatment adjustments. As you must be well aware, a high liquid output can lead to a host of problems and may even land you in the ER for IV fluids and electrolytes. Also, since the chemotherapy wreaks havoc on your immune system, they would need to rule out possible infection.
I hope this helps. Do let us know how it all turns out.
Kind regards,
PBL
