Peritoneal Carcinoma - Ovarian cancer Stage IV .. How to tackle symptoms of disease after Chemo
I have been diagnosed with Peritoneal Carcinoma - Stage IV Ovarian Cancer. The diagnosis followed a hysterectomy in May 2024, and investigations in November 2024 confirmed the condition. I started my first cycle of chemotherapy (FOLFOX) in January 2025. Afterward, I experienced partial bowel obstruction, which led to an ileostomy surgery in February 2025.
I received my second chemotherapy cycle on March 3, 2025, but unfortunately, the side effects were more pronounced than the benefits. Following this, my liver function tests worsened significantly, with my alkaline phosphatase levels reaching around 2000. My oncologist mentioned they cannot proceed with the third chemo cycle until my liver function improves, and I’ve been prescribed medication to address this.
Has anyone else experienced similar challenges?

ozarklady, stage four peritoneal cancer, first dx with colon cancer in August of 2024, had bowel resection then they decided it started in appendix, 2ct scans clear, Natura test was clear. Pet scan in Dec 2024 then showed peritoneal cancer. I don't feel bad except for fatigue. They say if no treatment, three months, chemo maybe more. Depression is a big problem for me. Anxiety is bad, bad. I am 83 years old and was otherwise pretty good health for my age. Not sure chemo is worth it but afraid of regret if I don't try. Good night and good luck to all.
irinotecan and 5FU
This is the chemo treatment that I am supposed to start soon. Has anyone else had this combination?

Just searching the boards and found this post. I have a similar story. Dx with sigmoid colon cancer in July 2023 during a resection (long story), 6 months of CAPEOX, 12 months of monitoring lung nodules, lung resection for met in March 2025, then CT and PET in June showed peritoneal cancer and lymph node malignancies. Went on FOLFIRINOX which is the irinotecan and 5FU + Oxalyplatin. The irinotecan was much tougher for me than my first-line chemo. How are you doing? Talking to others in the same situation helps my anxiety. I'd love to hear from you if you are up to it!
