“Spontaneous regression of cancer"

I talked with my oncologist this morning about the results of my CT scan. I was shocked when she not only said the cancer has not grown but it has shrunk. I asked how this was possible with no treatment. She said that my own immune system attacked the cancer. I then remembered a passage that shows below. For years my own immune system which attacked my myelin is now attacking this very aggressive cancer.

I then remembered this ancient proverb, “The enemy of my enemy is my”.

"Spontaneous regression of cancer" in an MS patient refers to a rare phenomenon where a cancerous tumor in a person with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) shrinks or disappears completely without any specific treatment, essentially healing on its own; this is considered a very unusual occurrence, and the exact mechanisms behind it are not fully understood, but are often linked to the complex interplay between the patient's immune system and the cancer itself.

Wow what excellent news. Are you on interferon-beta? No matter I'm so very happy for you.

No treatment at all. I’m still in a bit of shock. Celebration time tomorrow.

I’m still in total shock. Because of my MS I was told no option was available to me. I was on Avonex but because of side effects I’ve been off it for about 4 years. The only explanation left is my own immune system.

A super rare cancer followed by an even more rare spontaneous regression. Are they going to write a case report on it?

I've not found a single case of spontaneous regression in Ampullary cancer but a few other cancers where the patient had MS.

    What are the plans now?

That is exactly what my oncologist Dr, Patel was thinking about. She was beaming when she told me the news. She is a professor at Stanford specializing in gastrointestinal cancer. It was a rare day when she can give this kind of news. She was beaming ear to ear. I’m still in shock because I was told surgery is out along with chemotherapy, immunotherapy and others I can’t remember right now. My gut feels it is tied to my MS immune system. Dr. Patel said just go live your life and l will see you in 7 months after another CT scan. For months I was getting my ducks in order selling and giving away things I have collected.

I’m still in shock almost like it is a dream. Why me and why the heck did this happen.

You'll actually be referenced for decades to come. It makes sense an over active immune system can turn it's sights to cancer. It's how imo Cancers without PD-L1 expression can still respond to Immunotherapy.
