False positive PET

No the PET scan does not give a diagnosis. The PET scan just shows where there is some metabolic activity. Usually some type of cancer but not always. With lymphoma the only diagnosis is by a biopsy. Doctors consider a Deauville score of 3 remission or some will say NED which stands for No Evidence of Disease. A perfectly healthy person would be 1. Others have put on this forum it is not cancer until a biopsy says it is. I think that is a good way to look at it. No need to borrow trouble until you are sure. I have had a CT show something suspicious and worried for nothing. For now I will keep going on as normal until I get a diagnosis and have decisions to make. Right now there is no decision that can be made. Hope that helps you some.
