Postmenopausal for 8 years
Hello ladies. I Am 59 years old and started lightly bleeding in late January. I have been having a light colored discharge for months but I wondered if i wasn't leaking pee 🫣. My gyn got me in same day I called. I have been going to the same GYN since I was 25! He did pelvic exam and told me that I had a big polyp coming from inside my uterus through my cervix. Have any of you had this? The doctors office scheduled me for a vaginal sonogram the next Monday. That sonogram showed an irregular thickened stripe 9.3 mm and 4 very big polyps and fibroids. He did a endo biopsy at same time and that came back with :
" Scant strips of probable endometrial lining epithelium and metaplastic epithelium. - No intact endometrial tissue (glands and stroma) identified." Which is a whole lot of nothing considering the pain that biopsy caused!
My doc said that I needed to have the polyps removed and a D&C. He said (and my doc has done this surgery on me before without these words) "and then we will know if you need to see an oncologist". Whaaaaaat? I was stunned and didnt ask anything about that comment. He said he was surprised I didnt have more pain.
My surgery is this Wednesday and I am optimistic but also worried that my doc may be worried 🫣. I have been reading in here and I promise to come back and say all clear if its all clear! I notice some ladies dont come back with results. Just for context, I have not had hrt.
Looking for advice on questions to ask at my presurgery appt… I feel like until he gets in there and biopsies, there's not much to ask. I will ask how long before he gets results back.

buffybax, it sounds like you have a doctor that cares and it going to look into things which is great. The D&C is the next step, and if anything is found there then YES, he should refer you to a Gynecologic Oncologist.
It is true, some people never let us know the results of their tests and I 'hope' it is because it all turned out well. Please keep us posted.
