robotic partial nephrectomy in my future
ct scan says i have a 3.4 mass on right kidney probably RCC. No biopsy was done. kidney function is good. they found it by accident looking for kidney stone in the ER. That pain was stupid nasty! The dr. says it's a piece of cake to take it out. I'd love to hear from you guys what i can really expect. How long will i be in the hospital? how long does it take to recover? Is there alot of pain involved? what should i look out for? I'm having a bad month, diagnosed with PC also. That biopsy was no fun either lol. If it is malignant is there post op. therapy or scans involved? Will appreciate anything you can share thanks

I had a partial nephrectomy but it was open vs robotic. I was in the hospital for 3 days but yours will probably be shorter if its done robotically. Full recovery took about 12 weeks but i was back to work the week after my surgery. All in all not bad for a major surgery. I never really had any major pain during recovery in the hospital. It just felt like i did a lot of stomach crunches the day before. I only needed Tylenol no painkillers. That was about a year and half ago. No treatment after because of the stage of the tumor just follow ups scans every year.

I had a 2cm mass removed with robotic surgery about two and a half weeks ago. Operation went smoothly and no complications. I went home the next day. Hurt like nobody's business for several days. But you start to notice that it's not as bad as it was. Follow the guidelines on not lifting. They are not kidding about that.
