Possible Malignancy Remaining Kidbey

in Kidney Cancer #1

Hi - I had a full Nephrectomy in Feb 2019. It was stage 3 RCC.
Surveillance scans annually. I just had one done and there is a 2.0cm solid lesion on my remaining kidney. Radiology noted it as concerning for malignancy. I don’t have my follow up with Urology for 3 weeks yet. I’m formulating questions to ask and I think first one is if I’ve had scans every year where did this come from? others I’m not thinking of?

    I’m stage 3 got it in 2020 and I got to be scan for ten years dr said it can come back you need to see if they will do partial on you but they may want to biopsy it first

    Hello, sorry to hear about possible recurrence!

    Mmoses is right, one of the first questions would be if it is possible to do a partial on this lesion.

    Biopsies for kidney tumors are not very popular. However previous fear that biopsy would make the cancer spread was not based on facts, if I am not mistaken…

    Hello! I have been a long time member ( very neglectful the past several years.) I have just been diagnosed with RCC in my remaining kidney. The tumor is in the centre of my kidney. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!

    Sad to hear about recurrence. What docs say, is partial surgery possible?
