BMT unsuccessful

I was diagnosed with AML in May 2024 just before my 26th birthday. After 3 rounds of chemo and a bone marrow transplant in October, we were notified 2 days before Christmas that I had relapsed. I currently am being treated for gvhd as well and if they are able to get that under control I may need to go to MD Anderson in Texas for a clinical trial - if one is available. I’m terrified of dying and have become accustomed to getting bad news every time a test comes back. I would really appreciate support/talking to anyone who has or is going through a similar situation.

Hang in there. My wife is having a BMB early next month.

There are a lot of natural food supplements that can enhance or sensitize the cancer cells to the chemo, or there are at least articles on the internet inferring that.

you can research, but no one will officially say any one supplement will make a difference as there are no scientific studies on live people.. You can look at things like EGCG green tea, berberine, curcumin, grape seed extract, pomegranate extract, beta carotene, moringa, hibiscus, and ginseng and perhaps quercetin and resvertrol. Most of these are very safe, some I am not so sure.

you must talk to your doctor about these as some may help on their own or in tandem with treatment, or may reduce the effect of the chemo or have no effect at all. . I have my wife on curcumin and green tea. Going to add pomegranate (ellagic acid) and hibiscus tea and grape seed extract.

other options?.. there are new drugs being approved based on antibody conjugates, others on CAR-T, as well as stem cell transplants. Others that target specific pathways. I would like to now what kind you have and what chemo you are being given.

I have had bladder cancer which made me do a lot of research. Immune Bio IBRX has an adjuvant that has shown efficacy where people have failed prior BCG immunotherapy. They are working on something similar in aml.

I called them on the phone and they were very helpful on informing me if and where they had any clinical trials going on. Keep researching, keep reading. Hope you are near a big city, better chances of clinical trials and better care.

All I have is words of encouragement. You are not alone. I hope you believe in God. I pray a lot. I will pray for you.

There are currently a score of late stage drugs in the wings and a hundred more in earlier trials. Many have shown efficacy in response rates. Get someone to help you find them. See if your doctor will help you find some and what they recommend.

Just watched KC beat the Texans. More football tomorrow. Take care.
