Unclear Stage
Good evening, I am glad to have found this forum. My mother was diagnosed with colorectal cancer the summer of 2023. She was 76 when formally diagnosed. My parents has have stated the cancer is " aggressive" but said they were not given a stage. She is not a candidate for surgery , has a colostomy/stoma, and has been receiving chemo every two weeks for the past 18 months or so. Until recently, she shared that her cancer is "stable." However, about one month ago, she stopped providing updates on her chemo treatments and labs. I have since found out from my brother that her tumor has grown in her rectum and in her kidney, but the details on that are not given. I'm trying to understand: 1- do doctors really not provide a stage??? (She is at Mayo). 2-How bad is this cancer? She almost died summer of 2023, so I am having a hard time wrapping my head around this, given the lack of details my parents provide. Any feedback to help me better understand is appreciated.
