Biggest incision swells

hi all,

Had a partial nephrectomy 10/23, RCC clear stage 2, feeling pretty good at almost 3 weeks post op, my concern in that my largest incision, one right below my left ribcage swells when I eat. I realize it’s right where my stomach and transverse colon is, could that be why? Should I be concerned? Anyone else have this?
i see a lot of post from years ago, hope this board is still open

Hi Paula, glad the surgery is behind you and went well and the results seem good. I have occasional swelling on the left side where my incision is, even after 8 years. I would bring it up to your doctor. If there is no pain or redness in that area it might just be how your body is dealing with healing. But please check with your medical team.

thank you for responding! Yes, results are good, margins are negative. I will definitely call my surgeon Wednesday, that will be exactly 3weeks.

Hi Paula, Glad to hear the surgery is behind you and all went well, Yes i had swelling but not sure if it was do to allergic reaction i had from the glue healing process or eating. You should call your doctor/medical team. Best of luck to you..

I talked to the surgeon I work with, as I thought he explained the incision is right on top of stomach so as stomach expands it pushes on incision line causing it to swell more. It makes sense really but so strange at same time. Thanks for responding
