Hi, I'm New Here
Hi, I'm Nan
I'm 71 and had surgery for gastro esophageal cancer 6 months ago. It was a rough surgery and I had stomach issues. Finally about 2 wks ago I was feeling like my old self again and was very happy. Now a week ago they did a pet scan and found a suspicious tumor at the gastro esophageal junction again. They took a sample of the tumor (please excuse my spelling). I'm waiting for the results of the biopsy. Has anyone here had their esophageal cancer come back so quickly. I'm scared because I looked it up on the net and the prognosis isn't very good and I'm very scared.

Hi, Sorry to hear your news. I had my Esophagectomy on the 8th of July and also 71 years old. My recent scan showed no new tumours. You must be gutted. After your first operation, did any of the lymph nodes show cancer? My biopsy said 32 removed, zero showing cancer.

Hi LimogesGuy, I got the results back from my biopsy and thank goodness it turned out to be a bleeding ulcer. Dr. game me a bunch of meds to take to heal it and said he is going to keep an eye on it and said I'm not out of the woods yet whatever that means. I don't know if I have many lymph nodes left because they removed a bunch of them when I had breast cancer a few years back. I like my cancer Dr. but he dose not go into much detail and I don't know the right questions to ask 32 sounds like a lot of lymph nodes to have removed. Glad to hear none of them were showing cancer.

The human body has approximately 600-800 lymph nodes. They are small, bean-shaped organs that filter lymph fluid, a clear fluid that circulates throughout the body.
When they remove a cancer tumour, they usually remove the ones surrounding it as they’re the first to catch the disease when it spreads.
My biopsy said zero were detected, so I consider myself lucky.
Great news the cancer hasn’t come back.
For all of us really 😉
