Incontinent 3 Weeks Post RARP Cath Removal
Hi Guys, Just turned 65 and had a RARP on Sept 25th. All went well, Final Pathology indicated negative margins and a total of 1-5% Gleason 3+4. (Despite an MRI guided Pirads 4, Gleason 4+3 in March) Anyway nerves were spared and outcome good. My question, of course, is the incontinence. Sitting and lying down are fine and dry, but upon standing, need to move quick. Doing Kegel's properly and consistently, but haven't seen any sign of progress so far. I know its only been a few weeks and early in the game; remaining optimistic that "tom'w may be better", but of course you know how that goes. Anyone have any advise or a boost of confidence about your situation? Much appreciated!

Joe_D I think I replied to you in another thread. But will repeat here.
I am four months past surgery. Mostly dry, using one pad at night (usually dry in the morning but getting up 3-4 times) and one pad during the day. More if I drink a lot of fluids or am really active. I didnt see much progress until after 4-5 weeks, and then it wass sudden. Since then improvement has come in increments. There are more exercises you can do besides kegels to strengthen your core. If concerned, get your doc to refer you to a physical therapist who specializes in pelvic floor therapy.

Hi,
I would think you have a lot more healing to do but it sounds like your off to a good start. After my robotic surgery removal it took me up to about a year til I plateaued. There is no set guide on improving, some heal faster than others depending on how much damage was done during surgery. Keep on doing your Kegals and hopefully you will continue to improve. Ten years later I still do about 100 squeezes a day……..
