Recently diagnosed of bladder cancer
Hello everyone. I am 46 and was recently diagnosed of bladder cancer of low grade when I found a voided cauliflower looking tissue in my urine and submitted it for histological appraisal. Following TURBT the second histology shows non-invasive high grade but could provide staging due to absence of muscle tissue in the biopsy submitted. However, CT scan shows that the bladder is well distended and normal in appearance, with no suspicious focal mural thickening or calcification.
The doctor has given me to options; 1. To go for a second TURBT or 2. To opt for cystestomy. Please your advice will go along way to help me navigate this path. Many thanks.

not a doctor but if no invasion into the muscle a cystectomy seems very premature. especially since there is no obvious thickening of the bladder wall. You seemed to have gotten it early. Most other times people find out when they notice bleeding after they urinate.
It sounds like they did one TURBT, cut it out and it came back, and now doing another TURBT. What treatment did you get In-between? did you get the BCG treatment? chemo?
I was similar to you. had a TURBT and was clear afterwards. Underwent BCG treatment and it came back after some months. Had a second TURBT, got chemo, still receiving infusions, but still clear.Knock on wood.
I drink a lot of green tea, hibiscus tea, eat garlic and take pomegranate extract and berberine. This is 6months after your post. I hope you are ok.

Can only tell you what I would do for myself. First, go to bcan.org to get the best curated medical info on bladder cancer. Second, I would want another TURBT that can yield stage and grade diagnosis, since that is the standard way to determine a treatment plan. A few weeks after the TURBT, I would expect to be placed on an immunotherapy or instilled chemotherapy to deal with cells that may still be present.
