Recurred once again

in Uterine/Endometrial Cancer #1

I'm back at what someone on this board called, "Whack a Mole" after finding another tumor in my abdomen, near my navel. Nuts! I almost made it to two years NED> Biopsy and resection followed. The tumor had invaded the mesh that was installed after a prior resection took much of the muscle and my omentum. So new mesh for me! But it had not invaded my colon so that's good news. I'm three weeks out from surgery and recovering well. More genetic testing on this newest tumor as prior genetic testing is 5 years old now. Specifically looking to see if I'm PD-L1 positive . If so, I'll be considering Jemperli. Don't know why I'm always hopeful it's something else when I recur, like maybe a hernia or something. I've been doing this for 10 years and it's always been cancer, same endometriod adenocarcinoma that has resisted radiation, chemotherapy, hormone therapy and a clinical trial for an immunotherapy. Jemperli is not the drug I was in the clinical trial for so maybe that will be promising for me. Anyway, here I am, still at it after 10 years and honestly, unless you saw me in a bikini you wouldn't even know I have cancer.

    Sorry to see this update. I'm glad it did not invade the colon, and that your "architecture" was repairable. As long as you feel strong, and you are living your best life, that's so important. Have you been watching this awhile, or did it just appear on a routine scan? If the genetics indicate Jemperli could be helpful, that's good news. I myself don't mind a game of Whack-a-Mole, as long as I win!! May your winning streak continue! Best wishes for your continued healing and good health. Oldbeauty

    Thank you for your thoughts. There was nothing on my scan six months before this one. About a month prior to the next scan I did feel at little lump and a bit of tugging and pulling just below my navel. I was hoping it was due to the increased weight training I had been doing but in the back of my mind I knew it could be something else.

    Jan, I'm so sorry to hear you have another recurrence! I'm glad it didn't get to your colon, and wish you the best with your treatment. I don't think they'll ever say I'm NED again but I'm stable for now, so I'll take it. Good luck!

    Although this is a chronic disease, none of us really wants it to come back. I'm so sorry to hear about your recurrence, but relieved to hear that it is not in your colon. I wish you the best on your new treatment plan, and for hope for the least amount of side effects.

    I found out that they call actually have a real name for "whack-a-mole" type cancers - "indolent" - but I will still use "whack-a-mole" because that's how it seems like they have treated it in me - mainly using radiation (all kinds).

    Well it turns out I'm not a candidate for Jempurli but can try Keytruda. I have decided to wait until my next CT in October to make a decision about this treatment. Keytruda is a similar drug to the clinical trial I was on so not sure I want to go down that road again. In the meantime, I feel good, am back swimming and exercising and taking care of my twin grandbabies a few times a week!

    I am sorry to hear the Jempurli isn't a possibility for you, but I love your approach to life - you have taught me so much! Enjoy the grandbabies!

    They think it’s working so far (9 months post op & 5 months after chemo ended). Tons of side effects but not as bad as chemo. My friend is on the other one you are looking at and has far less side effects. I’m not sure the difference.
