in Prostate Cancer #1

hey everyone, I had permanent seed brachytherapy July 2023 for 3+4 Gleason. Pre treatment PSA numbers 9.5 to 9.7. Feb and March 2024 they were 0.8 both times, last week/August 2024: 2.1. I’ll get another test in a couple weeks prior to my 1year checkup. My understanding is that 2.0 increase or three successive increases are the limit for bounce back, and wanted to get your perspective please. Thanks

    Hi,

    I would monitor your PSA over several tests to check for an increasing trend. If you do have increases you and your doctor team can decide what to do. I would think an MRI guided biopsy would be in order.

    Yes, this uptick is quite unnerving, but as recommended above, the only approach is to wait and see with the future PSA tests will tell. A 'bounce' after a year or so is not uncommon.

    I hope the latter will be true.
