    I had an ileostomy for about 6 months immediately after my resection. The surgeon wasn't convinced that the "quality" of my intestine would hold the suctures so he opted to go with the ileo temporarily to allow the tissue to strengthen. It was a surprise to me as well. Not what I was expecting in the recovery room.
