Hey everyone! I hope you're doing well! My friend is getting a breast reconstruction surgery, as she just had a breast mastectomy. Is there any resource she can refer to learn more about her options for reconstruction. Any leads will be great!

Check out the Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and MD Anderson Cancer Center websites. When she meets with the surgeon ask as many questions as possible about the various options, about post surgery and recovery, and drainage tubes. Same with Plastic Surgeon.

She really should ask her surgeon about this, and for a good referral to an Onco Plastic Surgeon. Ask questions including level of experience, pictures showing before/post reconstruction, and potential problems with reconstruction. Is she having any radiation treatments as this could impact the type of reconstruction. Hopefully her insurance will cover this. It should.
