I had surgery and lymph nodes removed and was told all was clear. A year later colonoscopy was clear. I have been wondering about cancer showing up in other places and have tried to get some answers about this but can’t seem to find a way to do it. I had a consult at Sarah Cannon right after surgery and have reached out to them to see about asking some questions but my phone calls have not been returned. Anyone have ideas?

Colon cancer is known to commonly spread to the liver and to the lungs. Regular follow-up visits can help identify these risks early to allow for a potential action plan if required. The longer you go since your primary cancer in your colon, the better the chances that nothing comes back or spreads elsewhere. I don't believe much in statistics but here's a tidbit for you that I've read - 85% of colon cancer spread, if it does spread at all, happens in the first four years so again - the long you are from primary, the better.
