Radiation or surgery

Hi!
My husband has stage 4 colon cancer. Had mets to lung and liver. He now has only 1 met to liver left and has the option of doing radiation or surgery to remove. From your experiences, what is better to do? Surgery or radiation. Radiation worked very well on his lung and his other liver met, but cancer has come back in the liver.
