This April marks Oral, Head, and Neck Cancer Awareness Month
There are many support groups and some are having special activities. Check out some of the groups you may find something helpful in one of them.
Support for People with Oral and Head and Neck Cancer (SPOHNC) pronounced "Spunk" is a nonprofit organization involved in the development of programs of
support. As such it can have an enormous positive impact on meeting the
psychosocial needs of patients as well as preserving, restoring, and
promoting physical and emotional health.

screenings occur all over the US and abroad any time during the year.
However, in April we celebrate Head & Neck Cancer Awareness Month,
which promotes a high volume of free screenings all over the world, plus
educational talks and other awareness programs.

The Oral Cancer Foundation
The Oral Cancer Foundation is a national public service, IRS-registered
501(c)3 head and neck cancer charity designed to reduce suffering and
save lives through prevention, education, research funding, advocacy,
and patient support activities.

Oral
cancer starts in the mouth and oropharyngeal cancer is confined to the
base of the tongue, soft palate, tonsils, and back of the throat. The
American Cancer Society estimates that 54,540 people will get oral
cavity or oropharyngeal cancer this year, and 11,580 people will die of
these cancers.
