Lobular type cancer - worried about surgery
So, I received my diagnosis recently (IDC-L, E/P+, HER-), did all the follow up tests (mammograms, US, MRI) and am scheduled for surgery in 3 weeks. I've elected for bilateral mastectomy for a number of reasons and feel confident in my decision.
My mind is everywhere all the time about my diagnosis and I can't seem to quiet it. I struggle most in the mornings and can't seem to fall asleep when I wake up in the middle of the night. I'm trying to use mantras to reassure myself and have found this site to be extremely helpful! So thanks to all of you who are sharing your stories.
At this point, I'm most worried about what they will find during surgery. My cancer is lobular type, which means it's very sneaky and grows in tendrils (instead of lumps). The MRI found several additional spots of growth in the same breast (separate from the original turmor) and i'm terrified of lymph node activity.
