Ovarian cancer help for mom?

hello all!

I am a breast cancer survivor, as is my mother. Now, at 94 and otherwise very healthy, she's just been diagnosed with probable ovarian cancer with two masses about 8 cm. Her gynecological oncologist at UCSD plans a laparoscopic attempt to remove the masses and her fallopian tubes, during which time he will attempt to see if the cancer has spread. This is planned for January 3 b/c my mom is taking a long-planned trip over Christmas. I will be going out to help her during and after surgery, after which she may have chemo -- or decide not to. Because of her age they won't do debulking. I would like to be the best help to her possible -- can any of you tell me what to expect? She is taking the view that "what will be will be," which is her right, but I don't think she understands the severity of what she is facing, esp. if she opts not to treat. Your thoughts most welcome.
