8 months post radiation and Cyberknife and 3 months post 12 months firmagon

Husband just recently finished treatment for prostate cancer with me. Gleason score was 8. Starting PSA was 2.8 before treatment. 3 months past Cyber PSA was .044. 6 months past Cyber PSA is .064. Does this indicate a concerning rise? And is there a need to worry? Messaged urologist and he said to come back and test in 6 to 8 weeks rather than 3 months.

    No reason for concern.

    PSA results will jump around quite a bit after radiation therapy. As long as the result doesn't go over nadir + 2, there no reason to worry.

    Has you husband had his testosterone tested? Hopefully, it will be back in the 'normal' range (for his age).

    Thank you for the rapid response! Testosterone was just tested but hasn’t quite gotten to a normal range as of yet. He is an amazingly resilient person though. We are hanging in there.

    Hi.

    Husband is 5 months post HRT firmagon and Radiation and Cyberknife. PSA was just at .024 last week. Still having burning during urination. Urologist says that is to be expected. However, my husband just told me that he noticed bleeding upon urination yesterday . Obviously we will contact our doctor tomorrow, but is this a common thing? Just trying to keep him calm and myself as well.

    Hi!

    so we hear we are one year later. Just got back from the urologist. PSA .044. testosterone 360 I inquired whether we should have a scan of any kind and he said not yet. He was very encouraged although he did suggest that we come back in three months to have another PSA. Is this normal if you recall it was a Gleason 8. 12 months firmagon. 28 sessions of Radiation. And cyber knife treatments.

    Hi,

    Several increasing readings should let you know if the cancer has returned. Like Old Salt said the readings will bounce around a bit, look for an overall upward trend to indicate the cancer has returned.

    PSA went down (0.064 to 0.044) and is very low anyway. Testosterone recovery seems nice; your husband must be feeling better. Keep him exercising!

    thank you so much for your encouragement! He works out six days a week which is a plus at age 79 so we’ve got that covered. What a roller coaster.

    As he still has a prostate, there will be PSA. Change over time is what is significant, not the number itself.

    So today he complained of blood in his urine. Is this common? 17 months post HRT firmagon,radiation and cyberknife. No pain or burning. We will see urologist within the next 10 days.

    You reported the same about a year ago (post #4). How was that managed?

    Yes. Antibiotic but probably bleeding was from radiation at that time. Might be the the same again. Urologist suggested wait and see.
