PORT & pleural effusions

Can a PORT still be placed if there is large right and moderate left pleural effusions? Husband is getting the Port put in tomorrow morning.

    The decision has certainly been made advisedly. The situation, if not addressed, is rapidly becoming dire. The port is sub-cutaneous, with the tubing running up over the clavicle, and into the vena cava, so there is no intrusion into the pleura. IIRC. If it is of any comfort, I had a Power Port for seven years with zero difficulties and a Vortex port for 1.5 years.
