radiation-fatigue-immune system
Hello,
I have completed 22 sessions of radiation to my lumpectomy and lymph node sites, 11 more to do. Fatigue is unreal and hard to describe. My skin is doing ok - mild rash and getting a lovely never can show anyone tan and as many others have stated moisturize, moisturize, moisturize.
I developed a cough the second-third week of radiation and cannot get rid of it. Just starting week 6. My radiation doctor informed me that my cough had nothing to do with radiation and if I did get a cough as a result of radiation it would be months down the road. Sigh. I am teaching full time (the cough began before school started) and have decided to take some time off from work even though it is still the beginning of the school year.
Did anyone ever experience a dry cough during radiation with no other symptoms?
I really like reading all the posts as it makes me feel less alone in this strange, surreal, solitary journey.
Thanks,
Marian

Hi Marian,
I'm proud your skin is holding up under radiation well. Mine is but just finished treatment #7. My oncology radiologist says that has nothing to do with tx- reguardless of cough or in my case massive h/an and nausaea about 45 min after tx an I am an RN. Reach out to your regular doctor or oncology about this. I’ve had more help from them. 🙏 you feel better! I’m still working cause short staffed but don’t know how much longer I can. This is mind, body and emotional draining.

Hello Marian,
I started getting a cough after the radiation took half of my thyroid on the right side. It since has slowed down and it's been a month since I have been done with twenty-five treatments. I still have a lot of fatigue especially after they removed my breast and had implant in same day and had a full hysterectomy seven weeks ago. It's still going to be a long journey but keep your head up. Think positive, and remember your stronger than you think. Clear aloe is what I used for my burn and it was the best thing ever. The redness finally went away. Now dealing with lymphedema in my right arm. Prays for you.
