Second Opinion on Needle Biopsy
Hi Everyone: My husband is scheduled for a targeted needle biopsy of the prostate next week (based on MRI results), we are in Calgary, Canada. Based on You-tube videos from the Prostate Cancer Research Institute in California, they recommend getting a second opinion for pathology and Gleason scoring on the samples. I don't know if this is possible with our health care system in Canada.
Wondering if anyone else from Canada has been able to get a second opinion from a pathologist on their biopsy samples? If so, may I please have some details about how you arranged it, and what lab did the analysis, and did you have to tell the radiologist at the time of the biopsy, so that they would handle the samples differently for this purpose?

A second opinion analysis from the specialists at Johns Hopkins does cost some money ($300 most likely), but it's worth it!
I don't see a good reason why your Calgary specialist would not be able to send the slides to Johns Hopkins (Baltimore MD) for a second opinion.
