Post Mastectomy/DIEP FLAP Pain

Hi! This is my first post here. I was diagnosed last year, at 41 with IDC, ER/PR positive, HER2 - stage I BC. I opted for a double mastectomy with immediate DIEP flap reconstruction. It has been almost a year to the day of my surgery and I am struggling with what I call rib pain. It is right where my bra band sits - and seems really concentrated where my drains were located. I’m also noticing some shooting pains in one of my breasts. Has anyone else experienced this? I did not have radiation or chemotherapy. Thank you!

Hi. I had DCIS for a second time, & chose DIEP flap reconstruction almost 5 years ago. I did have the rib pain you’re talking about as well as a lot of exhaustion. It took a few months for those pains to go away, but they do. Hang in there!!

Thank you! I’m a year out and I’m just noticing it. Maybe because I’ve started wearing a bra?
