BRCA gene mutation?

I'm waiting for genetic testing results to find out if I have brca gene mutation before my breast surgery. Has anyone decided to do mastectomy rather than lumpectomy based on BRCA results. I'm interested to hear about your experience and your thoughts.
Thank you.

I did all of the gene testing and I carry no gene for ANYTHING. My oncotype test was only a 12. I chose lumpectomy. I had rads but required no chemo, and took aromatase inhibitor for five years after, am 5 year survivor as of yesterday.
