Rash after stopping Folfiri+Cetuximab
My father stopped chemo after 6 full cycles of Folfiri+Cetuximab (with no more cancer showing up on scans, CEA, or Signature), and another few cycles of 5fu+Cetuximab maintenance chemo. He had some rashes from the Cetuximab during treatment, but the antibiotics the doctor prescribed seemed to help.
About 3 weeks after stopping the maintenance chemo, a full body rash showed up. The doctor swears it's an allergic reaction and prescribed a 6 day course of steroids and some antihistamines. Those didn't seem to help much, and the rash is still there. They also did an immunoglobulin test (which should be high for allergic reactions), but it came back normal.
He's had smaller bouts of this type of rash before, and it seems to always happen before the cancer grows / comes back. Our oncologist and dermatologist think it's either eczema or an allergic reaction, but it just doesn't seem like that.
Anyone encounter anything similar? Luckily CEA and Signature are still normal / negative.
