skin itch and prostate cancer

I have a prostatectomy coming up in a little over a week.

Recently I've experienced skin itch - no rash or other obvious cause - and it's pervasive.

Covers the whole body - head, hands, feet back, chest, face. stomach etc.

...and, Lord help me, my nipples!

Anyone have a similar experience?

I am NOT on any cancer-related drugs.

I am coming off an antibiotic used for a bad case of sinusitis. Clearing now.

I'm letting all my physicians know - but wanted to see if this is common "user" experience. ;-)

Thanks

It does sound like an allergic reaction to something. Not a doctor, but Benadryl has always helped me when I have any itching. Good luck with your surgery.

I have areas that periodically itch around the sides of my abdomen and lower legs. What works for me is to use a good moisture cream like CeraVE twice daily for several days and that quiets the itch. It has worked for several months. Years ago after quadruple bypass surgery, I developed a purple rash from my neck to the bottom of the butt (where ever my body touched the bedsheet). It was very painful and nothing seemed to clear it. Found out later I was allergic to hydrocodone. These itches can be very hard to diagnose and very obnoxious. Hope that you find a solution.....
