Second mastectomy after recovery
Hello,
Anyone had a second mastectomy after recovery because of the asymmetry or to wear better fitting clothes?

Do you mean reconstruction on the other breast to make it similar to the first breast? When all the filling is done, it seems insurance will allow a mastectormy patient to make both breasts look similar by implants for both. Is that what you mean? You want to make both breats similar? Check with your insurance company but I think it's a law that was passed so many years ago. I actually read about it and if you want, I can see if I can find it? .Hard to rephrase it other than to say it is used to restore a womans breast appearance so that they are both similar...

Oh okay! I guess check with your breast surgeon and see what he/she can do :)

Have you talked to your doctor about a second mastectomy to match your first one? I am interested in doing this also. Just wondering what response you got since they originally told you to come to this website for guidance. Good luck if you haven’t talked to your doctor yet.

It does not sound like a good idea to me to have a mastectomy for that reason. It is such major surgery, as you know. Ask your doctor about things you can do to make your breasts look alike; there should be plenty of things. Prayers you find a different solution! Sunny
