Lumpectomy with Savi

Having lumpectomy surgery on Thursday with 5 Sentinel lymph nodes removed and drain. Day before surgery they are placing a Savi Scout locator in the tumor (what’s left of it after aggressive chemo) to assist surgeon with location. Two questions for anyone who cares to share their experience…

Was the Savi placement painful?

Was the lymph node drain very difficult to care for at home?

Thank you in advance ~ I’m new here and experiencing a lot of anxiety over this. Not sure I even made the right decision to do lumpectomy over mastectomy 🙏🏻

hi, Savi placement uncomfortable but not a big deal, my biopsies were far more painful. I had lumpectomy 4 weeks ago no drains needed.

I don't know anything about the Savi treatment but I can tell you that my oncologist told me that there is just as good a survival rate with a lumpectomy as a mastectomy. There is no difference in the survival rate. Best wishes to you!
