Anyone develop diverticulitis after treatment?

Sorry if off-topic but I'm 2 1/2 years out of treatment for AC doing the Nigro. Doing great, blood counts finally getting in the normal ranges and I've finally notice a huge improvement from the urgent bowel issues following treatment but I've been getting bad flare ups of Diverticulitis in my sigmoid colon. My colorectal surgeon from AC follow-ups suggested that probably from the prolonged side effects of so much activity in my colon. I'm afraid I might end up having a surgery to removed the damaged colon. I would love to hear from anyones experience.
