Vocal cord problems after thyroidectomy

Hi I had a complete thyroidectomy on Dec. 10 2021. My voice is raspy and hoarse. My right vocal cord seems to be paralyzed or stuck. My surgeon said this happens in 40% of thyroidectomy surgeries. Just wondering if this has happened to anyone else and what your experiences have been? Thanks.

I had my total thyroidectomy three weeks ago. I am still hoarse and raspy. My doctor said to give it time. Praying that you feel better soon. ☺️

Thanks Sushimum. I just had another follow up with the surgeon and he says it's getting better. I can tell my voice us better this past week too. Hope yours is better soon.
