Looking for help !! Complex cyst that has changed
I have been being monitored for a complex cyst on my kidney 11mm for a few years now. Yearly ultraounds, bloodwork and urine tests It was going good till this years ultraoud.. The pathologist says that my 11mm complex cyst has stayed the same size but that the septaions seem to have thickened and that it warrants an MRI. He claims he didnt see that in last years ultraousnd. I have just gotten over the past two months of a full hsyterectomy for a contained cancer in the uterius.. and now this? Has anyone had a complex cyst that hasnt grown in size but has thickened and what exactly can this mean.. I just am hoping its not antoher cancer and if it is I am hoping its not gonna be chemos and radiations..

is that yout cyst may be too small to diagnoae. He is trying something else. You do not want surgery if it CAN BE AVOIDED. sENDING GOOD kARMA.

Thank you Iceantoo.. They have been watching the cyst for around 8years, once a year I go and get the ultrasound, bloodwork and urine test.. The girl that did the ultrasound was new and then another girl came in and did some of the ultraound over again.. Also, I was even thinkjing maybe they got new high tech ulterasound machines at the hospital and that is why they are seeing more then last year. I am so concerned becasue this summer I was diagnosed with endometrial cancer.. had everything out and want to be done with all this cancer stuff.. I was just getting to the point that i was OK with this cancer and now have to worry about this cyst.. I couldnt get an appt for the MRI till October because they are all booked up. .so thats another month of worriment..

Honestly, I think not getting an MRI until October is a good sign If it was alarming the docs, they would have made sure it was done immediately (I know from experience, unfortunately).

I had endometrial cancer, and a full hysterectomy, but it was several years before I had kidney cancer. But I did have breast cancer in 2018, and the pre-op testing for that is how my kidney passenger was found. Your cyst thingy is really small and of a size that's usually monitored for quite a while yet, so it's unlikely you're facing any surgery soon, unless it causes symptoms. Mine was 7 cm when it was found, and I had no idea it was there. And 7 cm isn't considered all that big for a kidney tumor - still stage 1. Oh, and I'm not sure, but radiation for kidney cancer is pretty rare. Immunotherapy is used more than chemo, but even those are mostly for stage four and some stage three, I think. I had radiation on my breast (my nephrectomy was between the lumpectomy and starting radiation) and it was less awful than I had anticipated.
