Jaw Discomfort after reconstruction
Hi everyone, I was wondering if anyone has experienced jaw discomfort after their jaw reconstruction? My mom had a segmental mandibulectomy in November with a fibula free flap and skin paddle. 2 months after that she started experiencing severe discomfort which she describes as a heaviness/tightness in her jaw where they did the reconstruction. Her doctor did a CT scan, and it showed that she does have lymphedema but did not have fluid or infection. We have been using the Flexitouch for head & neck lymphedema for a month now along with neck exercises, but she says her discomfort feels the same. Has anyone had a similar experience and how long did it take for the discomfort to go away?
