Hi all

While on Xeloda, I developed terrible hand and foot syndrome. I could barely walk.

i belong to Stage 4 colon cancer group on Facebook. I saw this today:

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/m/pubmed/29095653/

I wish I had known this. I want to share for anyone on Xeloda now.

Cheers

k

    Thank you for sharing.  I

Thank you for sharing.  I took (still do) tumeric/curcumin all through presurgery chemo with 5FU pump and had mild rash on palms.  I guess it must have worked pretty good.

    Thanks

I have been taking tumeric now for awhile.  The chemo I may have to go on seems to have a very high incidence of HFS.  Will definately keep this in mind and maybe increase dose when the time comes.  Thanks for this.

    HFS & Xeloda

I just completed my first cycle of Xeloda, and am starting Hand-Foot Syndrome.  My hands and feet are tingling and dark already.  I've been taking a turmeric supplement for months.  (Granted I was on IV 5FU for 8 cycles, the last one ending on Jan. 2.)

I'm probably going back to IV 5FU this week.

And yes, back on the 5FU pump

One cycle of Xeloda was enough.

Hi abrub,  Im also on 5fu

Hi abrub,  Im also on 5fu (folfox).  Before surgery it was just 5FU for 6 wks.  I take tumeric/curcumin with my coffee.  I have read it works better when mixed with hot foods so I figured coffee works for me.  I don't know if it really does but I haven't had H/F yet, knock on wood.

    Hi SnapDragon

I've had no problem (so far) on the 5FU pump.  One cycle of Xeloda, and my hands and feet were discolored and tight.  I definitely keep my hands and feet well moisturized, and I am taking a turmeric supplement as well.  Xeloda was stopped after one cycle, and I'm back on the pump.  So far, so good.
