Imaging Concerns
Greetings Survivors! My mother was diagnosed with breast cancer a couple of months ago. She went thru with the skin punch biopsy and is now on estrogen blocker medication. However, she has serious conerns with the content based imaging that the doctors insist on to see if the cancer spreaded and to monitor the size of the tumor. My mother is the natural wholistic type and does not want the nuclear injection for the ct pet scan, nor does she want the contrast injection & radiation for the CAT scan and the contrast for MRI. Unfortunately, she’s never had a mammogram and it is too late for her to have an ultrasound because of the large open wound from the skin punch biopsy on the site of the tumor. My mom prefer using less invasive imaging methods such as a NO contrast MRI, along with a tumor marker blood test and would even pay for a thermography. It’s very disheartening when a doctor refuses to help if it’s not done his/her way, as if the patient doesn’t have a say.
Was wondering if anyone share the same concerns and could recommend an Oncologist that will work with my mother and honor her preference for less invasive imaging methods such as no contrast MRI imaging, tumor marker blood tests, and or a thermography? ~Thanks!
