Here's my story. I was diagnosed with anal cancer April 2018. Stage 2a. Did the 6 week chemo/radiation treatment. Everything has been going well up until my last appointment when my blood work showed slightly elevated liver function.
Dr. ordered an ultrasound which I had 2 days ago. Yesterday I learned that it didn't look so good and now I have a CAT scan scheduled for next week. I'm very terrified! Having mets to the liver seems so much worse than what I had to deal with last year. Is there anyone else that has been in a similar situation? I could use someone to talk to right now.

So sorry to hear that you are going through this! Please let us know how the CAT scan turns out. Please make sure that you are at a good, large hospital if possible.
Yes, it is being done at a good Facility.
The waiting is the hardest part.
Thanks for responding.

Yes it sure is! Just talking about it with people that
understand helps. I have been doing so well.
I’m hoping this is going to be just a bump in
the road.

It is going to sound wierd by I really internalized your situation, because you went through treatment almost the same time as I did, and you were only stage 2 and I was stage 3, so I was wondering why is she having this issue, and not me, and is it just down the road for me? I had a bad dream last night about a reoccurence where I had to go back through chemotherapy after 8 months after the last treatment (even though it has been slightly more than that in real life) and the nurse was being totally unsympathetic, although in real life they are always very nice and supportive. I just wanted to let you know that we are all hoping for the best for you. Best wishes sincerely,

I will get the scan done and just hope and pray for the best.
Every time I went to my appointment, they always say
how great I was doing . I even came through the treatment just fine.
I just don’t get it... ugh!

i would call them Friday morning and tell them you want results called to you before the weekend so you don’t have to wait that much longer. Tell them how scared you are and they will try their best to get you the results. If you got it done at a big facility the CT should be read by now.

Still waiting on results.
Does everyone usually get them the next day?
The waiting and wondering is the worst !
Fear of the unknown! Ugh!!
I get a scan every three months and my results are usually ready that day or the next. I would definitely call. You’re right about the fear of the unknown. Our imaginations get the best of us. Hang in there! You are not alone!

Hi,
I have been away from this site for a while but trying to do some catching up...I am sorry for the spot you are in. I was initially dx over 8 years ago with 2 recurrances over the years, both to areas on my lung. I won't go into detail but both treatments for mets were doable at least for me.
On the scan results (which I get A LOT and probably too much but the lesser of 2 evils)...my doctor usually schedules to meet with him and go over a week later than the scan but any time I have requested to see him earlier he has been open to.
I sure hope you have results by now and whatever you have heard is something you can manage swiftly.
