I am an RN and I worked in a family pracitce office for the last few years.  Constipation was one of the things I advised patients about.  This is a recipe I copied from another office.  The patients told me is was really effective.  It's worth a try and they said it tastes good too.

Fruit Paste Recipe

8 oz dried prunes

8 oz raisins

8 oz dried figs

2 oz senna tea leaves (purchase in health food stores)

1/2 cup prune juice

1/4 cup brown sugar

1/4 cup lemon juice

2 1/2 cups water

Bring fruit, lemon juice, tea leaves and water slowly to a boil.  Boil for 15-20 minutes.  Remove from heat and add brown sugar.  Allow to cool.  Using a mixer or food processor, turn fruit mixture into a smooth paste while gradually adding the prune juice.  Place in container (plastic, glass or metal) and store in freezer.  Note : fruit paste will not solidify.  Recipe makes about 4 3/4 cups.

Dose:  Take 1-2 teaspoons evry morning.  Remove dose from container and let warm to room temperature for 5-10 minutes (helps soften paste)  Eat plain or spread over toast, muffin, or crakcer (graham crackers are good). Increase or decrease dose as needed   Drink pelnty of wter, 6-8 glasses per day

It's worth a try.
