Is anyone else juicing?

I heard a podcast interview recently with a woman who believe juicing saved her life.  Then the next day at the thrift store, I found a nice juicer for $9.  Tried making some juices today, and liked them.

But I have a lot of questions about juicing.  Curious if others are doing this.

    My recipe

The recipe I used today is pretty flexible.  It combines any cruciferous veggie (great anti-cancer reputation) with apple, carrot, and celery.  And if I don't have apple, carrot, or celery on hand, substitutions are allowed, using what I have on hand.  It uses about a pound of veggies and makes 12 oz of juice.  One serving of this per day alongside my regular diet ought to ensure a good daily dose of phytonutrients.

This recipe avoids veggies that are high in oxalic acid because it's not good for bone density.  Now that I'm on letrozole and goserelin, bone density is a concern.

    Here's the recipe:

    Juice 100-125 g each of:

    • Cruciferous veggie (arugula, bok choy, broccoli, brussels sprouts, cabbage, cauliflower, kale, kohlrabi, mustard greens, radish, turnip, turnip greens)
    • Apple or other fruit of choice
    • Carrot or other orange veggie (sweet potato, orange squash, pumpkin)
    • Celery or other green veggie (asparagus,  bell pepper, cucumber, lettuce, zucchini)

Optionally, include any of the following:

    • 1 clove garlic or 1 green onion
    • Dandelion greens
    • Ginger, basil, cilantro, dill, fennel, or mint
    • 1/4 t iodized salt (iodine balances the goitrogens in the cruciferous veggies)

Add juice of 1/2 orange, lemon or lime, or 1 T apple cider vinegar.
