Had my 4th round of chemo yesterday, scheduled for 6 of carbo/taxol. So far I have not had too hard of a time, mostly weak and tired feeling. Today is what I call my Dex/steroid day. I get a high dose of Dex the night/morning before Chemo and the day after is when I feel pretty up and have the most energy. My Dr and I talked about the CA-125, so I thought I would share mine. At my hysterectomy surgery, on Oct 2, it was 179, Next time I saw it on Dec. 14 it was 35 and yesterday it was 28. Dr. told me under 40 is normal. She said some people hang out at 30 and some go to 7 or 10, you eventually find your own normal. I asked her about inflamation, she said only if there is inflamation in the pelvic region would that affect the count. She also said that a lot of things can cause inflamation, even just having diarrhea, but my injured and inflamed ankle would not have any effect.

Well, Ribbons, we are now on exactly the same schedule, because I had to delay round 4 for a week due to my platelets being too low. I get given my Decadron IV right before the infusion. My CA-125 was about 35 I think just before surgery, but another reading was 28 before surgery. It went up into the mid 40s right after surgery, then a slow decline, to about 15 now. I think that a few years ago it was very low. I believe that my symptoms began a year before diagnosis, so I think that the CA-125 is for me a valid indicator.
About the Decadron - I was being given 20 mg IV before chemo. At the third round, I asked oncologist if it could be safely decreased, so I got 15 mg. And this last round, I got 10 mg. I just hate taking the high dose of IV steroid. I already know I have cloudiness of my vision due to the beginnings of cataracts, and I know that steroid hastens its progression. So I'd like to minimize it, now that it seems as if I am not allergic to Taxol.
Today was my post steroid, I feel great day. But on half the dose, I don't feel as great. But at least I could fall asleep before 430 AM the night after treatment!
Are you able to ride again yet? We're over 90 days post-op.

I have dexamethasone pills, I have to take 50 mg 12 hours before treatment and another 50 mg 5 hours before treatment. It doesn’t seem to keep me from sleeping. I have not ridden yet, although I could. It is not good weather and I feel too unsteady, clumsier than normal, which is not good because I am pretty clumsy to begin with . Lol
