dedifferentiated liposarcoma in the groin area
Hello all
I was diagnosed with this cancer after having a hernia operation. I felt a lump in my groin area at the beginning of the year and call my sister who is a nurse and jokingly said I think I have a tumor. She said is was more likely a hernia. So, I made the appt to see my Dr, and he confirmed it was a hernia, but also said I did have nodule there. He scheduled a sonogram, and that led to a CT scan. At that point, he still wasn't sure, and I made an appointment with a surgeon for a hernia, and he said he would remove whatever was down there during the surgery. He ended up removing my left testicle because the growth had grown around the blood supply to it. He still wasn't sure what it was and had it sent to John Hopkins to be analyzed. Well, it turned out to be the Liposarcoma. Since he did not remove it all it has since grown back more than twice the size in little more than a month. Let me tell you this thing hurts like hell even with taking hydrocodone. I'm being treated at the Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa and will begin radiation treatment on the 25th for 5 weeks then 4 to 6 weeks after to recuperate they will perform surgery and hopefully get it cut all out. These types of cancer tend to grow back or spread. Right now, they are staging this at stage 3. I'm not scared of death, but I fear being financially ruined in the process. Funny, that's the first thing I thought about money and not death. I'm single and have no family other than my sister and her partner who lucky for me live the same distance from Moffitt as I do. Well, that is my introduction. Nice meeting you all virtually that is.
