    I think your doctor would

I think your doctor would have to order one for you and then you'd get it through a medical supply.  I'm not an expert though.

You have to get through a

You have to get through a respiratory company and the order needs to come through your doc.  Be sure to get alot if yankauers (the part that goes in mouth) and be sure to have sterile water to clean the tubing.  We had 1 for several months.  Heads up, they are loud.  Im happy to answer any questions that come up.  Good luck

    You don’t not need a

You don’t not need a prescription unless its a reimbursement issue. You can rent them at medical supply companies or buy them online.

I bought one early on - just in case. Never needed it. Still new in the box.

yours if you want it. Just pay the shipping. I’m in Oklahoma City.

    I Used One

During a hospital stay. They are safe to use and do a good job. I never had one at home. Just hacked and coughed till I got the mucous out and like one fella said mostly slept upright or in a recliner for a while. I would check with your medical team if you think you really need one and maybe you can rent or lease one from a medical supply place till you get through the mucous problem.

We had one for several months

We had one for several months.  Insurance company wouldn't give us as many yankeurs as needed, so bought myself on Amazon...not to expensive.  You can buy cheaper sterile water at Walmart to clean tubing.  The machines are loud and get extra tubing so you can get up and move about easily.  Be sure to rinse mouth constantly to get rid of crap in mouth.  I too can help with questions if you have any.  Good luck

    Used mine a few weeks

IF my memory isn't tricking me, I think I *needed* mine for about two weeks.  I couldn't work-up the pressure to spit as hard as I needed-to and the machine really helped.

But it was useful / made life easier for some time after I no longer required it.  IN fact, I could have made it through without it, as I never used it at night when the house was asleep since it was pretty loud.  Anything to make any of this easier is a good thing, though.

I would say, "That was the worst part," of the treatment for me.  ...but the fact is that there are a lot of "worst parts" and it is a true blessing that many of these memories fade.

It's also awesome that so many of us make it and we have the luxury of forgetfulness.
