Post Chemo scan without contrast

Contrast
With contrast they do it twice, so you get double the dose of radiation. I had a pre-surgery lung scan without contrast, but post surgery, all have been with contrast. But since you are concerned, why not just call the doctor and ask why? It could be because the area of concern (lungs, liver, etc.) does not benefit from the contrast. Or it could be that the order was entered wrong.

I am going to try to ask Doctor but I only realized today when I got the certification letter, and the office is closed on weekends and my scan is 9am Monday morning

High resolution CT scan without contrast
Hi Abita, i am also gong to be having a CT scan (high resolution) without contrast for my follow up scan for lung mets. My understanding this scan is best for assessing the status of lung tumors. I had originally been diagnosed with 2 lung mets, only thing that showed on PET scan, had a hi resolution CT and it showed some smaller nodules in both lungs, too small to be detected by PET --Just having to trust the doctors--I did do some googling and felt like it confirmed having this study but for life of me can't remember specifics lol. Praying that your followup shows all tuor GONE! please let me know what your docs say about the benefit of scan!

Scan
Mine was always done with contrast, but I've heard of it being done without. I'm not sure of the reason why the difference. I'd bring this up with the technician on Monday before having this done and ask them why and say you are concerned about no contrast if this is the usual for you. They can always call the doctor's office to confirm that is exactly what they wanted. Wishing the best for Monday and let us know how everything goes.

So, scanxiety is high. I was on the way to work, and something about the song Lucy in the sky made the enormity of the past 10 months, and the reality of cance, and the results of the scan meaning EVERYTHING, and I burst into tears. Fortunately, I am in Manhattan so all just ignored me.

Aw, I'm sorry you had that episode. It's funny how it can overwhelm us at times. I went with my daughter to a rodeo on Saturday just to go through the building with artwork and things for sale. I had to sit down about every 150 feet and then rest until I could try again. We missed stuff because I just couldn't hack it. At one point when I sat down I started to cry and had a very hard time getting that under control.
