Feeling itchy

I am two weeks post treatment of hpv + right tonsil cancer with metts to lymph nodes.

I am feeling sore throat and itchiness exactly at the right side of tonsil where my cancer was diagnosed. It comes and goes, not permenant. Plz tell me why it happens? Should i worry about it? Plz comment did you have any feeling like that after your treatment. Thanks.

    Yes, it's called healing...

Your throat will feel weird in general probably for the rest of your life.  But a little itch or tickle here and there isn't too much to worry about.  Only two weeks post you've still probably got a lot of trauma back there.

Over the next year you'll have lots of different "weird" feelings in there...  It's fun to worry about all the different little sensations.  Tongue Out

    Thanks hohnsonbl and skidog.

Thanks hohnsonbl and skidog. I was really worried. Skidog how about your lymphnodes? Have they shrunk after the treatment? Mine were about 6cm in level II of right side of neck. They shrank substaintialy after chemo doses but are still noticeable upon touching, about 1 or 2 cm. Please let me know how your lymph nodes have responded to the treatment. Thanks

    Lymph nodes

Andrea...yes. exactly the same with the lymph nodes. mine were not as big as yours but have shrunk noticeably... but not gone. Doc says very normal and will likley continue to shrink over the next few weeks. Also, many on this board speak of their nodes not shrinking completely even after several months. As i understand from their testimonies and my own research...this is caused by scar tissue and dead cells and are not an indication that the cancer has returned. Many leave them alone and some have them cut out. ...as I understand it.

Hi Skidog. Hope u doing well.

Hi Skidog. Hope u doing well. I have a feeling of heaviness at the right side of my neck. My left side feels normal and easy but right side as if there were swelling and like my muscles are pulled. It is not painful however there is definitely a feeling of unease and heaviness. Do you experience anything like that? What could be the possible cause.? Note that i had 33 rads and my right tonsil and lymph nodes on the right side of my neck had cancer.

    Not sure

Andra, It sounds very normal for 3 weeks out but I'm not a doctor. i definitley notice my right side is different from my left since that was where I was treated. Check with your doc but it all sounds very normal this soon after treatment ended.

    yes...

same boat here. doc says all part of the healing process. my throat was actually the most sore its been this past week. especially at night. doc say's that is normal. some days are better than others...and the healing is slow...but should continue to improve over the next weeks. I'm 4 weeks out from right side tonsil and lymph cancer. Proton rads to right side only.
