Obesity and Medication

Anyone have their medicine capped at a top limit because of their weight that would be less than the normal protocal?

 “Chemotherapy consists of mitomycin C 10mg/m2 (capped at total of 15 mg because of obesity) on days 1 and 29 of treatment” 

The dosage would normally be 21.9 (at 10/m2).   They are capping it at 15 mg.

Has to make me worried that I am not getting enough of the medicine to kill all the cancer cells.  I am going to talk to my doctor but I was wonder if anyone else is getting the following combination, what was the cap on your mitomycin?

mitomycin C 10mg/m2 (capped at total of 15 mg because of obesity) on days 1 and 29 of treatment, and capecitabine (Xeloda) 825mg/m2 daily on days of radiation therapy.”

All, as an update, both UCSF

All, as an update, both UCSF and Stanford dose at 10 mg/m2, but Stanford caps the mitomycin at 15 mg, and UCSF caps the mitomycin at 20 mg per infusion.  I would go to UCSF for treatment, but it would mean waiting longer to start.  Waiting to see whether I will start at Stanford on Wednesday, and whether they are willing to increase to 20 mg.  They advise against it because they are more cautious, but at UCSF it is the protocol, and UCSF is having excellent results with their protocol of 5FU, mitomycin and radiation.  Stanford's protocol is 5FU or xeloda, mitomycin and radiation.

That's interesting.  I have had contact with people who have been treated at both UCSF and Stanford, both with good results.  Please let us know how this all unfolds for you.
